Coronavirus (COVID-19) Information

Due to the rise in COVID-19 cases in our communities and Steele County issuing a face covering mandate, we kindly ask our customers to wear a mask/face covering when entering any of our bank locations. Bank employees will be wearing them as well. Thank you for your cooperation.

Due to the rising cases in Grand Forks County, our Northwood lobby will be temporarily closed starting October 21, 2020.

As always, our online and mobile services are available 24/7. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your trust in us.

We will be opening the lobbies of all locations effective Monday, June 1st.  The new lobby hours will be Monday – Friday 8:00 am to 4:00 pm and the new drive-up hours will be Monday – Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. While we are happy to open our doors and see our customers in person again, we still strongly encourage our customers to utilize our digital banking platform, the drive-thru, the ATM, and the night deposit.

We want to assure our customers that the Citizens State Bank continues to take a careful approach to reopening our locations and we will be following CDC guidelines and ND Smart Restart guidelines. When you come to visit us again, here is what you can expect:

  • There will be one teller window open, with plexiglass, in each lobby to insure social distancing for customers and employees.
  • Please bring your own pen when visiting the bank or we can provide a disinfected pen to you. You may either keep the pen or return the pen and we will disinfect the pens each day.
  • There will be hand sanitizer available.
  • There will be floor markers, six feet apart, to indicate where to stand in line.
  • We may also limit the number of customers in the bank at one time, and may ask you to wait outside or in your vehicle.
  • We have also heightened disinfecting all high touch areas, continuously throughout the day.
  • We are also requiring all staff to stay home if they are ill or have a family member in their household that is ill.

The Citizens State Bank wants to thank you for your patience over the past months. We appreciate your business and we will continue to operate in a safe and effective manner to continue to serve your banking needs.

In an effort to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus), the bank is taking additional preventative measures to protect our employees, customers, and communities.

Effective March 18, 2020, the following changes will occur:

    • All Citizens State Bank lobbies will be closed to the public.
    • We will be accepting deposits and conducting transactions through the Drive-Up and/or the Night Drop boxes. The night drop boxes will be checked frequently during regular business hours.
    • If your banking needs are better served through an in-person meeting, please contact the bank to schedule an appointment.
    • Businesses in need of cash and/or change, please call the bank to place your cash order and to schedule a pick-up time.

We strongly encourage the use of online banking and utilizing the mobile app as much as possible. These services include the following:

    • View accounts and transaction
    • Check balances
    • Transfer between accounts
    • Make mobile deposits
    • Pay your bills
    • View online statements and check images

Dear Valued Customer,


In this unsettling time, we are taking precautions to ensure the safety of our employees, customers, vendors, and communities. We will monitor and prepare for continued outbreak of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) in North Dakota. We want to share with you the steps we are taking now as we continue to learn about the current state of COVID-19.


Although our lobbies are currently open and we are ready to server you, we strongly encourage the use of electronic banking.  You can access your accounts online through internet banking or through mobile banking. From here, you can make payments, transfer funds, deposit checks, view transactions, check balances, or pay bills. If you haven’t enrolled in online banking, please use the links below to enroll or  download the apps.   We also offer electronic business cash management tools for our business customers. And, our night deposit box is an effective tool to use after banking hours.


We encourage all our employees, customers, and community members to practice the recommended preventive measures:

    • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
    • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
    • Stay at home when you are sick.
    • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue and then dispose of properly.
    • Clean your work area and homes on a regular basis.
    • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
    • Practice other good health habits: get plenty of sleep, be physically active, manage your stress, drink plenty of fluids, and eat nutritious food.
